Orphan’s Lifeline International really appreciates the Gifts in Kind donations that people send to us
to help orphaned children. Your generosity, time, and effort mean a lot to us. There are some things
you can do to help us when you send gifts in kind gifts to us:
·Mark your full name and address clearly on the outside of the box.
·Include a piece of paper inside each box with your name, address, phone number, and date you
mailed or shipped the gift clearly printed on it. You can also include your email address if you’d like
to in order to make it easy for us to contact you if we have any questions.
·The IRS wants the person giving the gift to set the value, not the non-profit receiving it. Therefore,
please include a fair market value of the items you are donating. If you have any questions on the
new IRS regulations, please contact your local IRS office.
·If more than one person is sending a gift/gifts in the same box and each person needs to have a tax
receipt, please indicate which person donated what and make sure to give names and addresses of
each person.
·Remember, please do not send adult size clothing. We work with orphanages, and the children are all
small and very slender. We have to take the adult clothing we receive to Good Will because we cannot
use them.
·Remember, clothing and other items needs to be new or look new with no signs of wear.
·Quilts, blankets, and sheets can be crib size, twin, size and full size, but not queen or king. Do not send
fitted sheets.
·Toys need to be washable.
Remember that the IRS has changed some of their requirements when it comes to Gifts in Kind Donations.
If your non-cash or gifts in kind donation is in excess of $500.00 in value and you wish to claim it as a
tax deduction, you will need to fill out IRS Form #8283 and then send it to us as we are required to sign
it as well. If you have any questions regarding their regulations, you may contact your local IRS office
and they can explain them to you.
If you have any questions about anything you are thinking about sending, you can contact Alaina Board
