Let's face it...there are a large number of organizations out there doing good things...and there are a growing number of them that offer sponsorship programs for orphans, children at risk of becoming orphans, children at risk of starvation...the list goes on and on.

There are similarities among them...and vast differences at the same time. Each has their own mission and program and within that, their own way of providing proof of care and interaction between the children being sponsored and those sponsoring them.

Some programs provide a one to one sponsorship. These programs state that they will provide direct communication with the sponsored child and updates on the well being of the child. Many of the children in this style of program are actually living in, or reported to be living in a home with one or more of their parents and / or a relative.

Some programs provide food assistance, some educational assistance, some a general subsidy to the caregiver for all of the above and more.

How is Orphan's Lifeline International different...and why did we choose our program model rather than one similar to the ones discussed above?

Here are the reasons:

1. There are well over 100 million children out there that have absolutely NO parental care. It is this vast population of innocent children that we are targeting with the care we provide. These are not children that live in a home with their parents or relatives...they are children that do not have anybody that can OR will care for them.

2. Why not a one to one sponsorship with direct communication with the sponsored child? We do not provide one to one sponsorship or communication for two very good reasons. First of all as mentioned above, these are children who have no one to care for them...which in turn means we bring them together under one roof in home style care. There they are cared for in programs that have been proven to provide an atmosphere in which they thrive...not just survive, but there are sensative issues that must be considered with group homes. One of those is that, these children are very sensative to being treated equally...and if one had sponsors that communicated with them while others did not, it would potentially do more harm than good. The second reason is expense. Our first priority is the well being of the child. Our programs emphasize critial needs first...needs that relate to survival. Then we focus on the other needs such as education, menotoring and nurturing, etc. While all of these needs are important, ultimately, the survival of the children must come first. With more than 100 million orphan children out there, Orphan's Lifeline has designed a sponsorship program with communications that cost very little...saving a LOT of money that can go to helping even more orphan children!

That is what the Partner's Pages are all about! This information is not available to anyone just viviting the website, simply because it is personal...and the children deserve their privacy. There partner's that donate to this work will have access to in-depth information about the home and children they are providing for...and really, all of the homes we are featuring. They will find news and updates specific to each sponsored home. There will be Directors Updates, profiles and updates for each child, letters from the children, backgrounds on the children, photos, videos and more!

Partners can use this information and a special email form to communicate with the children in the home. It is an opportunity to mentor and nurture them...build personal relationships...and cultural bridges. We strongly encourage this communication as a part of your sponsorship of children in Orphan Lifeline's homes throughout the world. What's more, you are not just limited to the home your are sponsoring, or even the country you are sponsoring in...you can send emails with photographs of you and your family, personal stories, scriptures, etc. to any home in any country...or to all of them!
